Eastbourne Festival 2013
A big 'thank you' to all our participants and supporters!
For three weeks from 30 March Eastbourne Festival 2013 featured a wide range of events covering all artistic disciplines. including music, comedy, literature and theatre as well as the visual arts. Audiences enjoyed a new musical review described as 'Noel Coward meets the Buena Vista Social Club' (Paul Gunn and Worsted), viewed the exhibits at the East Sussex Open at Towner, participated in a Can Can or Burlesque workshop and saw the professionals perform and experienced Early Music at St Mary's Church in Old Town with 'Lux Aeterna'.
Others took part in a 40s/50s charity cycle ride in period costume, saw work rejected by Towner at the 'Salon de Refuses' at the Linchpin Gallery, caught up with the ever popular Ska Toons at The Lamb in the evening, participated in a series of dance workshops run by world famous Rambert and saw the work of professional Eastbourne Painters in the gallery at the new Birley Centre. All this as well as the Festival 'evergreens' - the Artists Open Houses and Studios, world class theatre and comedy from Eastbourne Theatres, including Hardeep Singh Koli and 'bad boy' Oliver Reed, as well as number of exciting plays and revues, classical music at St Mary's, Eastbourne SHOUT! where six hundred people turned up to sing and the many other events on offer.
Our main festival sponsors, Solicitors - Stephen Rimmer LLP, hosted 'Festival Central' at their offices at 28 Hyde Gardens on Festival weekdays where callers asked questions, picked up brochures and other promotional material and explored how to get involved in future years.
