Registration for Festival 2012 is now open. Registration will close on 31 January 2012. If you are thinking of organising an event for Festival 2012 don't leave it too late to jump on board!
Festival 2012 is already attracting a great mix of the traditional and contemporary, featuring popular and classical music, theatre, dance, comedy and the visual arts.
This year’s Streets of Eastbourne opening event will host not one but two stages showcasing a variety of performances including music, dance, theatre, poetry & story telling ditties, plus street dance, hoopla & poi performances & workshops. A street market will meander along the high street linking the two performance stages. There will also be an information stall where you can pick up your festival brochures or book tickets for some of the festival events. We still need performers for this event such as comedy, dance, jugglers, stilt walkers stage hands and stewards so please contact us if you would like to be involved.
Events already registered include Martin Carthy, Rag Mama Rag, Roy Bailey and Tony Benn with 'The Writing on the Wall. Jacqui Dankworth, Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, Albert Lee and Hogan's Heroes, Phil Beer and Juan Martin's Musica Alhambra. Eastbourne Parish Church is organising a series of workshops, concerts and recitals throughout the Festival period, Catalyst Arts will be hosting workshops, and there will be a new visual art event, 'The Visitor', at the Redoubt. Many local artists have already registered their Open Houses.
The Happening will return to Eastbourne Festival Fringe to entertain & bemuse us with its exploration of eclectic underground art forms which combine mixed media entertainment, live performance, art & music. The Grand Éclair will be making its début appearance with a bijou & intimate Parisian inspired afternoon tea including tea & cakes, static art plus a live tableau vivant or a Parisian inspired chanteuse, and the ever popular Boudoir Burlesque will be back. The Fringe gives everyone an oppportunity to participate, gain experience or just mingle with other creative souls and become inspired. Do email us if you would like to participate by organising an exciting fringe event!
